Spicy Hummus Recipe Without Tahini



  • 2-15 oz cans lower sodium garbonzo beans (chickpeas), drained and rinsed
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp avocado oil (or extra virgin olive oil)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (more or less to taste)
  • 10 dashes hot sauce (more or less to taste)
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ tsp paprika, optional for serving
  • 1 fresh sprig cilantro, optional for serving


How To Make Spicy Hummus Recipe Without Tahini



  1. Add all ingredients into a food processor or blender and mix to desired consistency.
  2. Transfer to a serving bowl, sprinkle with paprika, and serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, or vegetables.


Note:

Hummus makes a great, high protein, dairy-free sandwich spread, and it's a super alternative to sour cream in 7-layer dip.

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts 
  • 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)

  1. Heat kitchen appliance to 375ºF.
  2. Mix sugars, butter, vanilla and egg in massive bowl. Stir in flour, saleratus and salt (dough are going to be stiff). Stir in kookie and chocolate chips.
  3. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls regarding two inches apart onto unlubricated cookware.

  • 4 wedges
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 fluid ounces white rum
  • 1/2 cup club soda

  1. Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice.
  2. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture.
  3. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired.
  4. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.

  • 1 side, skin-on, sockeye salmon, 1 1/2 to 2 pounds, pin bones removed
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper


How To Make Sockeye Salmon Recipe



  1. Position a rack in the oven 3 inches from the broiler. Line a half sheet pan with aluminum foil and place the salmon on the pan.
  2. Place the sugar, zest, salt, and pepper into the bowl of a small food processor and process for 1 minute or until well combined. Evenly spread the mixture onto the salmon and allow to sit for 45 minutes, at room temperature.
  3. Turn the oven on to the high broiler setting for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, place the salmon into the oven and broil for 6 to 8 minutes or until the thickest part of the fish reaches an internal temperature of 131 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer. Remove the salmon from the oven and allow to rest, uncovered, for 8 to 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
